“When the spirits are low, when the day appears dark, when work becomes monotonous, when hope hardly seems worth having, just mount a bicycle and go out for a spin down the road, without thought on anything but the ride you are taking.”
- Arthur Conan Doyle -

"Now, there are isolated cases and unfortunately, the mother of the idiots is always pregnant."

Elizabeth West

When man invented the bicycle he reached the peak of his attainments. Here was a machine of precision and balance for the convenience of man. And (unlike subsequent inventions for man's convenience) the more he used it, the fitter his body became. Here, for once, was a product of man's brain that was entirely beneficial to those who used it, and of no harm or irritation to others. Progress should have stopped when man invented the bicycle.

Richard Sachs

A bike is a bike. Lean a K-Mart production bike against the wall next to a Richard Sachs and neither is faster. That’s because it’s really all about the rider.

Cipollini - Hero

Heute stellt er Rennräder her. 100% italienische Handwerkskunst, keine Fernost Kram.

"I dream of cycling, you know? My dream is to organize a little peloton with maybe 20 old friends so we can cycle from Lucca around Tuscany, just for pleasure. Maybe you have problems - family, money, work - but on the roads everything is always perfect. When you ride a bike you are like Peter Pan, you are forever young."

Abfahren

"There is no better way to come down an Alpine mountain than on a racing bike. I've tried cars, motorbikes, mountain bikes, mountain boards, snowboards and skis: they all fail to compare. Nothing come close to matching the spiralling high induced by the combination of speed, stupefaction at plunging through exorbitantly beautiful landscapes, and the unnerving fear of kissing Joe Tarmac at 80kmh astride two human-powered wheels. I relish every corner, every shudder of the handlebars, every splitsecond when my rear wheel searches for something to grip. It's so intense that I briefly believe it might never end."

Hemingway

It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and can coast down them.... Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motorcar only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.

Ernest Hemingway
